Stephen Nimer
Stephen D. Nimer, M.D., is the Director of the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is also the Executive Dean for research and a Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Nimer’s career spans more than 30 years in clinical care, research, administration and leadership. His research has focused on epigenetic mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of myeloid malignancies, including MDS and AML. He has authored more than 300 manuscripts and received numerous awards, including election to the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians, and the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida.
In addition to his service on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Edward P. Evans Foundation, Dr. Nimer chairs the MDS Foundation, and the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation, and has served in leadership roles for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation.
